It's tough for Australia to achieve unprecedented feats.

The top summits have long been mastered.

We're talking about the squad that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, plus another six T20 titles, and previously enjoyed 1,294 days unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, those for the peak baggers, are the only things left for a side that has won it all.

It needed up to Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase over 300, reclaiming their record for the biggest in the women's 50-over format, is, honestly, a testament to the bowling attack that have sported the yellow jersey over the past 50 years.

It's challenging for their hitters to possess a record if not afforded the possibility.

In the end, the outcome of Australia conceding 330 was skipper Alyssa Healy being given an opportunity to produce her latest masterpiece.

Then best known as the young family member of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after Australia didn't secure either of the T20 or ODI World Cups from the prior year and has seen it all through 15 trophy-laden years since.

A T20 championship victory came three months after her bow and seven international trophies have come from 10 attempts across formats.

The tough gloveman was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India temporarily stopped the successful run.

That loss "drove us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy stated recently.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the championship match and was named player of the tournament. She made sure her country would not fall short again.

Whether this latest epic knock surpassed that earlier display is debatable.

Many contend the argument supporting championship match pressure. Others can counter with the test that comes when facing a record target and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What is certain is this ton was considerably tougher to anticipate.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 came as she led the batting statistics, but this innings followed six innings in India since the start of last month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"For those following me in practice sessions, it has been a frustrating experience because it appeared I've had no rhythm completely," commented Healy.

"Yet the moment you step out on the field, your fighting spirit take over and you simply focus on the competition."

Healy's fighting spirit has always been her major advantage - and an invaluable trait in succeeding iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

A single was taken off Gaud's first delivery and from that point the right-hander was underway.

"The possibility to take the field and face the challenge with her and merely enjoy the moment that way, somewhat inspired me," commented Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 balls - her fastest at a World Cup - and her century in 84 as she attacked short-pitched balls, scoring 21 fours and three big hits.

By the time she was removed her side needed 66 additional runs at a run-a-ball - a manageable total now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"To chase 330 is uncharted waters so I'm happy we have the confidence to achieve that now," added Healy.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it another time but, if we do, we believe we can do it."

That comment will be the ultimate thing rival teams at this World Cup want to hear.

Over the past five days a belief they will succeed regardless of circumstances has only strengthened - this triumph following success over Pakistan by 107 runs despite sitting at 76-7 at one stage.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a match against old rivals England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final place may likely be confirmed.

It was at that stage they were eliminated from last year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - a match Healy couldn't play because of damaged tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the inaugural occasion at a major tournament.

So great is her will, she afterwards commented she wanted to have participated with the discomfort.

However although she subsequently acknowledged those physical issues have delayed consideration of ending her career, this tournament is expected to be her final tournament as skipper in 50-over cricket and she is still to achieve a global event as skipper.

Triumph in India would bring her to the top of her final mountain.
